How do I remove a POP or FTP account?

- From the control panel, select the "Delete Accounts" option from the "Manage Email Services" menu, and select "GO".
- This option is used to do exactly what it states, delete an account. You will be prompted with a form asking for the account name to delete.
- There is also a "Display List" option, that will show all POP and FTP users on the server.
- Click on the "Remove the User" button to delete that specific account after you have selected it from the list or entered it into the text box.
- If you receive any error, then check the table below for the reason for the error.
- Error: User could not be removed from the master passwd file.
- Fix: Missing a file in the /etc directory. Contact Computer House Customer Service for further instructions.
- Error: The username XXX already exists (where XXX is the username you entered).
- Fix: You have already entered the username, so you would either need to chose another one, or modify the user you wish to use.
- Error: The username is too long/too short.
- Fix: Usernames must be between 3 and 8 characters. Also, ensure you only enter lowercase letters.
- Error: The password is too short.
- Fix: Passwords must be between 6 and 8 characters. This is for security purposes.
- Error: Could not write password file.
- Fix: Incorrect permissions on the passwd file in the /etc
dirctory. Contact Computer House Customer Service for further instructions.
