How do I setup an ftp account if the directory is longer than 8 characters?

Answer

This is a 2 step process.

1. Add the user.
2. Modify the user.

First, you will need to add the username via the link in the Control Panel that says "Add new POP/FTP account"
Input the username. This should be between 3 and 8 characters.
Their home directory should be /www/htdocs/username This makes it easier to modify during the next part of the process.
Select the "FTP" option from the drop down services menu.
Submit the form to add the user.
Go back to the main menu of the Control Panel, and select "Modify existing POP/FTP account.
Input the username that you just created, and submit the form to continue.
Change the home directory to the full path of the virtual host's directory on the server. It will probably look something like this:

/www/htdocs/virtual_host_directory_longer_than_8_characters
Submit the form to modify the user.

That's the process. Then test the ftp username to ensure that you ftp to the proper directory. If you have any problems, contact Computer House Customer Service and include the username that you have created and where the ftp account should point.
