How do I install FrontPage 2000 extensions for my virtual host?

Answer

To install FrontPage 2000 on a Virtual Host, you must be a Server 2 Plus, 3 Plus, or 4 Plus account. If you are only a Server 2, 3, or 4 account, then you will need to upgrade to a Plus account using our order form.

You will also need to have FrontPage 2000 server extensions installed on your server for you to be able to install them for your virtual hosts. There are normally 2 ways to check this. You could FTP to your account, and go to the /usr/local/frontpage directory. If you see a directory named 'version4.0' then you have FrontPage 2000. If you don't see this, then you can assume you don't have FrontPage 2000 installed on your server. If you're currently using FrontPage 2000 on your main site, then you already have FrontPage 2000 server extensions, so you won't even need to check.

Once you are a Plus account, and you know that you have FrontPage 2000 installed on your server, you can being to install Microsoft FrontPage 2000 extensions on your virtual host. To do so, do the following:

Enter your Control Panel.
Click on the "Add Front Page 2000 to a Virtual Host" link on the right hand side of the Control Panel.
Input the virtual host domain name into the first input box. This needs to be just the domain name, without the www. or http://
Then, give the FrontPage site a username. This can be anything between 3 and 8 characters.
Next, give the user a password. This will need to be 6 to 8 characters, alpha-numberic.
Finally, input the directory name of the virtual host. You can get this information either from your confirmation email, when that virtual host was added, or via the httpd.conf file in the /www/conf directory.
Click on 'Add the user'
You will get a message that states that the FP 2000 extensions were added.
