Shop Appearance Setup

Back to Main Menu

There are two ways you may define the appearance of your shop pages.

  • Simple Setup - If you select this option and then fill in the items listed below, and MCart will generate the HTML that it needs to setup your pages.

  • Custom Setup - With this option, you must provide the location of your own pre-defined HTML files that MCart will use for the header and footer sections of all of its pages.

Additional Options

These options apply to both setup models
Maximum Items per Page:
Whenever a customer views a page containing a list of items, MCart will automatically split that list into separate pages if there is a large number of items to display. Set this parameter to the number of items you want listed on each page. (10 or 25 are good numbers to consider.)

Display Category Menu In Headers: Yes No
If you choose to divide your shop into categories, then MCart will automatically place a menu of links to each category page in the headers of all of your pages. If you prefer not to have this menu, you can disable it by selecting "No" here.

Target for Secure Pages:
If you run MCart inside a single frame of a frames document, you will discover that the browser does not show the security information correctly when the customer is transferred to the secure server to place his order. To fix this problem, you can set the TARGET attribute for the secure server links here. If you set this to "_TOP", then the secure server page will automatically open in a new browser window.

If you are not using frames, you can safely leave this field blank.

Alternate Checkout URL:
Most users should leave this item blank!
This option is only for those shopkeepers who want to use their own checkout module in place of the standard default checkout which is provided. Enter the URL of the checkout program that you want MCart to use. This should be on a secure server somewhere.

Cookie Timeout: (minimum 1 day)
MCart uses a "cookie" to store the customer's shopping cart ID on their browser between visits to your shop. Use this field to set the number of days after a visit that the cookies will last, before the customer will have to start a new cart.
